I’m New

Hello and welcome to our church website, it’s always a real joy for us to meet and have new members in our church family. Here you will find useful information about our church. Our mission is leading people in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Whatever that next step is, it’s time to take a bold step of faith out of your comfort zone and discover what God has for you. We believe that you can’t go with God and stay where you are.

If you have any questions about our church, our beliefs and our vision, please feel free to contact us! We’d love to hear from you!

We’re so glad you’ve decided to visit us! Below you’ll find a list of commonly asked questions.

What happens on a Sunday morning?

What brings us together is the knowledge that Jesus Christ has made all the difference in our lives. We express this through our worship, sharing joys and heartaches, deep friendships and by trying to show and speak of Jesus’ love to others.

You can expect a warm and friendly gathering in which you should find hope, encouragement and perhaps a challenge.

We are a vibrant, growing church with a passion to see people’s lives transformed and enriched by the love of Jesus Christ. We try to be culturally relevant without compromising our Christian beliefs and principles, seeking to be faithful followers of Jesus in our society today.

We sincerely try to find out what God wants in our personal lives and church community from the Bible and prayer. It is very important to us to maintain loving and co-operative relationships within the church and with others.

The evening service starts at 17:00 pm and will finish by 20:00pm

Is there parking?

There is parking in the surrounding roads outside of the church in both Churchill Street and Atlee Road. However we please request that you do not park infront of the residents driveways.

What time do I need to arrive?

The morning service starts at 09:00am. To allow yourself time to find your way and get settled we would recommend you arrive between 10 and 15 minutes before the service starts.

What happens when I arrive?

When you arrive you will be welcomed by one of our Usher Team Members who will direct you to your seats.

The layout of the church makes it easy to get around and there are always plenty of people who will be happy to help you find your way. Don’t be afraid to ask; it’s a great way to meet people.

There are no reserved seats so feel free to sit wherever you feel most comfortable.

The services at River Word Church have something for everyone.

What are the services like?

We aim to make our worship services as accessible as possible.

Our music ministry team lead us in a mix of traditional and contemporary which depends more upon pop/rock music styles and modern songs for worship (though you’ll hear a hymn from time to time here, too!)

Each month we hold a communion service where we break bread together to celebrate Jesus’ death and resurrection.

Am I expected to put money in the offering?

During the service we take up an offering from our regular congregation towards the ongoing work of the church and our support of mission and Christian compassion. If you are visiting with us, we don’t expect you to put money in the offering. We hope the service is a gift to you.

What should I wear?

We want you to feel comfortable. After all, we are thrilled that you’re joining us and want you to be more focused on the service than what you’re wearing. It’s not uncommon to see people wearing jeans, sandals, and even shorts. Others prefer to still put on their “Sunday best,” and that’s fine too!   We think you’ll fit in no matter how you dress.

There are activities for children.

Will there be something for my children?

Children are well catered for at River Word Church – we have River Word Kids Church. River Word Church also includes children’s talks most weeks in the main service and a comprehensive and lively children’s church programme taking place during the second half of the morning service.

We hold all-age services to allow our families to worship together.
